About Leggwork Productions

Leggwork productions is a breakdance (We Use The Word Breakdance for the Media, but true B-boys Prefer the word “Breakin” or “Rocking”) fundementals & training company started by one of Providence RI’s most affluent street dancers “Daddy Long Leggs” formerly of the 401 Rockerz. Leggwork Productions works to teach and train classic style foundations of Hip Hops original and number one dance artform “Breakin” Not only does Leggwork productions teach an informative workshop on how to perform the dance but also provides a lecture based program that incubates the cultures enrichment as a whole.  Breakin is  a 35 plus year old urban dance style that started in the south bronx & upper manhatten. It includes such elements as “the rock”, “Freezes” and “Footwork” and is such a deep complete culture. It Includes not only tradition & non tradition styles of dance but encompasses ones life of dress, attitude, style, music and vocabulary. Leggwork productions was just a figment of imagination to Leggs when it was concieved back in the summer of 2007. Daddy Long Leggs needed a vehicle to showcase the artform & made approachable to a thriving community of newer young generations. Leggs has always been much more into just “the dance aspects” but also culture and history himself & thats where the lecture parts come in. Leggwork productions was born with the purpose to instill value and credibility of Breakin with knowledge as power coupled with an dense hands on training. LWP teaches a fundemental course on the history, who, what, where when and why while securing its predecessors in full length. It all includes a fortified lesson plan including film viewing, lecture tutorials and of course the physical strength training on “how to become a B-boy/girl”

 

LWP is now present throughout the great Providence RI school systems as an afterschool based arts magnet. It also finds its way in many dance theaters, colleges and small community based outfits along the side. Daddy Long leggs has taught at more then 10 diffrent locations & more then 100 Kids & adults since the start or his program in late 2007. Completley curricularized the class consists of an hr to two hr long session per day at generally a 10 week workshop. It includes a stretch warm up, lecture of the day and training lesson. Ultimately students will complete much of what would be considered a “foundations” class within the target 10 weeks or more.  Throughout time Leggwork productions strives to complete a well basically knowleged student who exmplifies tru aspects of  a B-boy/girl.

From “cardboard to concept” Daddy Long Leggs has constructed Leggwork productions in the image of what he knows is the tools needed to achieve true aspects of the B-boy culture. LWP was also concieved with the influence and dedication to two of his biggest inspirations. Wayne “Frosty Freeze” Frost who was DLL’s 12 year mentor and best friend. Frosty freeze widely known as “the crowd pleaser” and Legend to the Breakdance world as a member to the Rocksteady crew will never be forgotten. Frosty helped foster a generation of  “Dance offsprings” so to speak for more then 30 years and was one of the few who had true cultural longevity under his belt. The other inspiration for what DLL does today is his brother & fellow 401 crew mate Joe “Joeskee” Hector.  At only 17 when he passed away, Joeskee was one of the greatest B-boys to emerge out of the RI landscape and was also hailed by some of the greats for his dance. He led an A+ academics achievemnt at the MET (metropolitan career tech) school one of the locations Leggs teaches at now. Joeskee left a legacy untouched and touched many peoples lives. Both Frosty & Joeskee could never be forgotten and thier principle is branded in the Leggwork Prodcutions advocacy for excellence within the B-boy culture.
